Box: Kane wins first boxing gold since 1994

Bantamweight JUSTIN KANE has won Australia's first Commonwealth Games boxing gold medalsince 1994 on countback after coming from behind in a thrilling final.

KANE and Canadian ANDREW Kooner were locked at 34 points each after four rounds ofthe 54kg contest, but the Australian was awarded the bout 120-113 on countback.

KANE is the first Australian gold medallist since ROBBIE PEDEN won the same weightcategory in Victoria, Canada, eight years ago and only Australia's ninth in CommonwealthGames history.
